1. Do rats and mice spread disease?
YES! They are a danger to public health and spread numerous diseases including Weils Disease (which can be fatal).
2. Can rodents cause damage?
YES! Damage from gnawing to electrical wiring can cause fires. Rats can cause structural damage to foundations, drains and sewers and agriculture can lose up to 5% of crops.
3. Can I get a repellent for Rodents / Moles?
Unfortunately not. There are products on the market, electronic and otherwise which are a waste of money. If you can invent a repellent which actually works, we would like to hear from you! You could be a millionaire this time next year!
4. I have purchased Rat / Mouse bait from a D.I.Y shop but I still have problems, why?
Amateur products only work with minimal effect. It is always best to use a professional pest controller who, after surveying, will employ one of their varied optimums to ensure 100% elimination.
5. I have bought traps to catch rats and mice but I still have a problem, how come?
Traps alone do not solve the problem. Baiting is the only way to ensure 100% elimination.
6. I have rodents but do not wish for them to suffer agonizing deaths. Is their a humane option?
The Rodenticides currently on the market are ‘approved’ under the Control of Pesticide Regulations 1983 and are humane in as much as the pest will suffer a minimum of pain.
7. I have a mole in my garden, can it be caught live and released somewhere it can do no harm?
No. It is an offence under the Abandonment of Animals Act to trap a live animal and release it in another area. Also, moles are very territorial and releasing it where there are other moles would cause it distress and inevitable death. By releasing it somewhere where there are no molehills the chances are that there would not be enough food there and possibly the soil would not lend itself to digging (stony).
8. I have a dog / cat, will the bait harm them?
We always place shield baits so only targeted species can accept the bait so pets and wildlife are not at risk.
